Help: Spam Filtering

Magical Productions gives several layers of filtering on all incoming email. From plain content filtering (attachment types to viruses) to advanced Bayesian Learning and Heuristics.

All accounts have these filtering options turned on by default and without doing anything you are receiving the benefit of the spam and ham reporting that other users on our network are doing. However, you should be aware of a few details that may help you with your email.

Junk Email - All of our email accounts have a "Junk E-mail" folder built in. This is where we put all the messages we detect as spam when they come in to our email server. You should browse this folder every few days as messages only remain here for 3 days before they are deleted. Our detection rate is quite high, so you will probably never find email in here that is not spam.

Spam Folder - This is the folder (under ##Bayesian Learning) where you move messages to from your inbox when they are not detected as spam but you are positive they are spam. If the email looks somewhat legitimate and there is an unsubscribe link you may try this option first. Nothing is worse for a spam leaning system than to report legitimate email as spam when you simply need to unsubscribe for an email that you subscribed to.

Non-Spam Folder - In the event that you do find a message in your "Junk E-mail" folder and you know for sure that it is not spam then you should move it here. Then the system will learn about the specifics of this message and will make sure that in the future it and others like it are not found as spam.

Note: your Junk Email folder may not be shown by default. To show this folder in Outlook Express click on the "Tools" menu and then on "IMAP Folders". This will list all of the folders that are in your email account. Those folders with a yellow folder icon next to them are the ones you are subscribed to. We suggest you subscribe to both of the Bayesian Learning folders as well as your Junk E-Mail folder.

You will not be able to see the messages that are put in to either of the Bayesian Learning folders so make sure you are careful when putting messages in to those folders as you can not remove them.
